Unsealing the Warrants

A Preview of What's to Come

I've been able to verify a few details about the search warrants that will become public record next week. There are three warrants, two of which were issued on February 13, 2008, and the other on February 14, 2008. The locations searched appear to be two homes where Jason Young has resided since the murder of his wife Michelle as well as a storage unit where presumably some of his belongings are stored.

After Michelle Young's funeral, Jason moved with daughter Cassidy to the home of his sister, Heather McCracken, in Etowah where they remained until late 2007. A warrant to search the premises was issued on February 13, 2008.

Since the beginning of the current year, Young and his daughter have lived with his mother, Pat Young, in Brevard. A warrant to search her home was also issued on February 13, 2008.

In June of 2007, most of the Youngs' belongings were removed to Etowah from the Raleigh home in order to prepare the residence for sale. On February 14, 2008, investigators added to the aforementioned a warrant to search the unit at Frontier Self Storage where, presumably, these household goods are stored.

Incidentally, 5108 Birchleaf was purchased this summer by a family from California who have now taken up residence and hope to transform the onetime crime scene into a happy home and bring some measure of healing to the neighborhood.
